RESEARCH CONDUCTED:
- The Challenge of Boko Haram and National Development in Nigeria.
The research explores issues bordering on religion and national security and its implication for national sustainable development. This is done within the purview of religious, tribal and sectarian conflicts; especially the challenge of the religious-militant group known as Boko Haram. The purpose of the research is to explore the possibility of using religion to foster peace and peaceful-coexistence among Nigerians, which will engender sustainable growth and development.
- Prayer Hills & Mountains and their Theological Implications for Christians in Yorubaland. A joint research with the Department of Religious Studies, OOU.
The research examines the drift to Prayer Hills & Mountains among contemporary Aladura Churches and Christians at large in Nigeria, and this has aroused theological concern, as this practise has engendered negative dispositions that certain “special” prayers can only be answered upon attendance of religious Hills & Mountains, coupled with the attendant exploitation, abuse and charismatic brigandage that often characterise such religious meetings. The research is undertaken from the theological standpoint that while such religious pilgrimage may lead to separation to and for God, it should not be assumed to be an end in itself, as God answers prayers anywhere and everywhere.
- Religious Use of Water for Healing and their Biological/Health Implications. A joint research with Dr (Mrs) O. A. Akintan and Dr (Mrs) Egberongbe.
Waters throughout human history has been used not only for daily human activities but as well for healing and restorative purposes. In African Religion; such healings and blessings are reportedly common among adherents of these goddesses. Same could also be said among Christians in Nigeria, especially the Aladura Churches that throng ‘Christian’ sacred waters, wells, and fountains in pursuit of healings, financial and material blessings, fruitfulness etc. However, these waters drank and generally used by these adherents in pursuit of spiritual healings, blessings and revitalisation has serious biological and micro-biological implications to human health and wellbeing, with far-reaching and devastating health implications. It is this problem that this research undertakes from both Religious and Biological perspectives.
